Nate, who is featured on the cover of the latest Springbrook Inspirations Magazine, is one of the featured artists at the 2024 Springbrook Community Art Show, Follow Your Heart, in the Community Gallery at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York. This show opened on April 1st and will close on April 30th. This is the first time Nate has shown pieces of his work, which range from sculpture to painting, in the show. He recently shared his thoughts with us about his participation. Read his message below.

“Being able to come to this show, to display my art at the Fenimore Museum with other artists, was a huge blessing and a privilege. Getting feedback from people is so important to me because it’s encouraging and makes me want to create something new and more amazing. Getting that wow factor and knowing how much I have grown as an artist makes me feel really happy. To be with the top dogs in the art industry makes me proud of what I have accomplished in my lifetime. Creativity would be my power if I could have one. It’s something I can’t turn off—it’s always going and a distraction when I’m working or sitting. I always imagine what I would be making, so I’ll zone out into nothingness as if I were making it right there. Sculpting something is some way of making it real. I like creating something new to challenge myself. There’s always something new that I want to learn to increase my ability.

If I could choose anything as a career, it would be to create special effects, makeup, and props for movies. Just doing ART and taking that extra step, I have so many different people helping me with that. Art has gotten me through many bad days and hard times—I just get lost in it. I draw my little fantasy-created characters that make me smile when I’m having a bad day. I draw things that are sad or mad; I even draw stuff that is dark. For me, drawing is like therapy. When I’m creating art, I get lost in my creative mind and don’t need to think about what I’m making. I go with the flow, put on some relaxing music, and I’m not paying attention to what’s around me. All I care about is what I’m creating (art is supposed to be fun, not stressful. Don’t do it if it’s not enjoyable.)”
