#NationalVaccinationDay, also known as National Immunization Day, is celebrated every year on March 16th to express the importance of vaccinations to the entire nation. The day was first observed in the year 1995, when the first dose of the oral polio vaccine was given in India. Vaccination or immunization is the most effective prevention method for highly infectious diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “immunization is a proven tool for controlling and eliminating life-threatening infectious diseases.” Let us keep fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with the help of vaccines, masks, and social distancing.
