On Thursday, December 1st, staff, residents, and Day Hab participants celebrated the one-year anniversary of the expansion of community homes in the Sidney Plains Region. The faint sound of holiday music floated through the hall as food and beverage set-up was underway, with bright tablecloths lining tables full of a variety of baked goods and beverages. Colorful balloons lit up the faces of those who playfully tossed them around. The joy in the air was palpable as friends were reunited and staff smiled with pride at the success of the last year.
We spoke with Malcolm, Brandy, and Sharon amidst the festivities. They shared that the transition has gone very smoothly, and Brandy excitedly talked about being able to do new activities at Springbrook Day Hab, like walking down the halls with her walker. Malcolm dazzled everyone with his smile, especially when he spoke about meeting his girlfriend through Day Hab, and their lunch dates, where they spoil each other with delicious food. Sharon brought the holiday cheer with her festive sweater and love for giving back to the community, as she has already made four scarves to donate to the Oxford Veterans Home this year. We are so happy to celebrate the many wonderful residents and staff in the community homes in the Sidney Plains Region and the work they have done to expand the community we serve.
