On Tuesday, November 22nd, the kids of the Kids Unlimited Pre-School (KUP) were visited by a special guest, Emily MacDavitt, International Spirit Legacy Queen—also known as “Princess Emily” to the kids. On Tuesday, Emily visited the classrooms at KUP on a visit from Texas. She brought with her cookies for snack time, as well as books and puzzles all about Texas to engage with the kids.
Emily attended the Spirit International and Miss Spirit of the USA Pageant on November 19th, where she crowned her successor as International Heart of Spirit, while Emily was crowned the International Spirit Legacy Queen. The Miss Spirit Organization is a pageant based on community service and sisterhood. Emily completed many hours of community service leading up to the pageant, including the annual Toys for Tots pageant in Schenectady this past weekend. The toy drive, which raises funds and toys for children in the Capital District, raised over 700 toys and $2000.00.Emily has been involved in her community from a young age and enjoys having sister queens with whom she can share her love of community and spend time giving back to her community. On Friday, after landing in the Capital from Texas, Emily spent the evening helping pack 450 Thanksgiving baskets at a local church in Schoharie County for families in need in that region.
The kids of KUP enjoyed their visit with Emily, who shared her crown with the kids, who ogled at its sparkle. The kids were dressed in their favorite pair of pajamas that day to show their support and donate a pair of pajamas to the Pajama Program and Scholastic Pajama Drive. The pajama drive took place on November 21st and 22nd. For every pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic Book Clubs donates a brand-new book to the Pajama Program to give to a child facing adversity. The KUP collected 22 pairs of new pajamas.
“Emily had a great time and really enjoyed engaging with the kids. She loved reading the books and handing them out with puzzles for the kids!” said Jackie MacDavitt, Early Child Access Coordinator, and mother of Emily.
