Joel Curtis is widely recognized for being an exceptional direct support professional, with qualities that may have been inherited from his mother, a nurse. A former recipient of the Belden Award, Joel has worked each day of his 25 years of service at Springbrook with a great sense of humor and humility. If Joel could offer one thing, it would be this: “Approach every day with a positive attitude and make it fun.” After about 20 years of working on campus, Joel has settled into the routine of working in a community home, where life is lived at an unhurried pace.

Stephanie Davy recalls the first time she met Joel as a truly memorable moment. “Having Joel around makes the house feel like a home,” Stephanie said, “where everyone is welcomed, people are at ease, and everyone laughs! It’s an honor to know him and to see the positive impact he makes on a daily basis.” She looks forward, as we all do, to Joel’s many more years of collaboration at Springbrook. Congratulations on your 25-year milestone, Joel!
