To continue our celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we are highlighting another supported employment success story. Brendan has been working at Nina’s Pizzeria & Restaurant for over six years, where he goes in two days a week to wash dishes. He works with Employment Specialist Mary, who has seen Brendan become more confident and easy-going. Brendan aspires to earn his GED and go to college so that he can eventually own a restaurant. He is passionate about healthy eating for personal health reasons and wants to offer food for people who are diabetic, gluten-free, or vegan. Brendan is also interested in recipes from the 1700s and 1800s and owns many cookbooks, which inspire him to cook new dishes. Mary shared that Brendan has become much more sociable and comfortable at his job with the support of Springbrook Employment Services, and she is proud of the progress Brendan has made.
