Today we are recognizing Alyssa Horton, a special education teacher at The Tom Golisano Center for Autism and lead teacher at The School at Springbrook, for her 10-year milestone!

Alyssa started at Springbrook as a non-certified TA and has worked her way up to being a special education teacher through a passion for education and the support of the Springbrook Scholars program. Alyssa obtained her Master’s in Special Education and a post-master advanced certificate in Educational Leadership through the Scholars program. She reflected on her experience, saying, “Springbrook has invested in me as a professional, and I am forever grateful for the support they’ve provided me.” In the fall, Alyssa will start her new position as Principal of The School at Springbrook.

One of Alyssa’s favorite memories was when she took her class to Gilbert Lake last June for an end-of-year field trip. They spent the day hiking, swimming, and enjoying the sunshine. Alyssa was extremely proud of her class for being brave, safe, and kind, and she was happy to see everyone enjoying themselves at the lake. Congratulations, Alyssa, on your many accomplishments here at Springbrook!
