On Monday, October 16th, firefighters from the Oneonta Fire Department visited Kids Unlimited Preschool (KUP) for a presentation on fire safety! Firefighters Tyler and Cody showed the class how they put on a fire suit, including all the different pieces and what they do. The kids learned what a smoke detector sounds like and what to do if there is smoke in a room. The firefighters simulated smoke by holding a sheet above the floor and instructing the children to crawl under the “smoke” to escape dangerous situations. The kids had an opportunity to ask questions before going outside to see what a fire truck looks like, with a chance to walk through the inside. The Oneonta Fire Department visits every school within the Oneonta area to provide important fire safety demonstrations, and we are grateful they took the time to visit KUP!
