The MOVE program is a favorite amongst participants at Capstone Day Habilitation on the Oneonta Campus. There are a variety of Rifton equipment available for day hab participants to use, providing the opportunity for people with different mobility levels to get up and moving.
Five people participated in this round of the MOVE program. Mariah used a Rifton pacer to walk around the gym and lobby of the Oneonta Campus. She wore a monochrome purple outfit that matched the color of the pacer she used. Katie was up next on the pacer, and you could hear the excitement in her voice as she moved through the hallways of day hab. Besides walking around with her pacer, Katie also enjoys throwing a basketball while standing in the pacer. Katie was joined in the hallway by Chris, who used a recumbent bike. The recumbent bike has helped Chris regain range of motion and strength in his hip and reduced his soreness.
Malcolm arrived next and was eager to begin exercising with his reverse-walker. Malcolm loves to get up and move, especially with friends at day hab like Gary, who cheers him on. To finish out the day’s MOVE program, Natasha used the Rifton tram to make her way down the hallway toward the cafeteria. We were so happy to capture the excitement that the MOVE program has spread throughout day hab!
