Fall Adventure at Rocking Horse Ranch Brings Joy, Laughter, and Unforgettable Memories
From October 27 through October 30, residents and staff from across Springbrook enjoyed an exciting multi-day getaway at Rocking Horse Ranch Resort in Highland, New York. The trip brought together 29 residents from 10 different community homes, along with 27 staff members, for four days filled with adventure, relaxation, and community. Director of Community Homes Gordon Mumbulo and Assistant Director of Community Homes Ryan Scott also joined the group for a full day of fun.
Guests enjoyed a wide variety of activities throughout the week. The resort’s indoor pool and splash pad offered a fun way to unwind, while outdoor activities such as horseback riding, mini golf, paddle boats, lawn games, and hay rides kept everyone moving. Many also enjoyed spending time in the animal corrals, trying their skills at archery and BB target practice, participating in trivia and Bingo, and attending nightly shows, karaoke, and a festive costume party.
According to staff, the experience was overwhelmingly positive for everyone involved. Smiles, laughter, and excitement filled each day, and the group was well cared for by the resort staff, who provided abundant meals and hospitality. One resident, Colin Gowland from Blackstone, especially enjoyed horseback riding and talked about it the entire trip.
While the event required significant planning and coordination, those who attended expressed interest in making this an annual or semi-annual tradition. The experience strengthened community connections and provided meaningful opportunities for residents to enjoy new activities, build confidence, and experience a true vacation alongside their peers.
This year’s adventure at Rocking Horse Ranch was a tremendous success, and many are already looking forward to the next opportunity to create more memories together.
