This Earth Day we are recognizing the exciting renovations coming to the Springbrook Nature Trail!  With warmer weather approaching the Springbrook residents and staff are looking forward to venturing the trails and enjoying the fresh Upstate NY air. Located on the Oneonta Main Campus, the Springbrook Nature Trail is a great way for residents, family, and staff to take in the local vegetation, wildlife, and stunning views.

Last spring, Springbrook was awarded a grant from the J.M. McDonald Foundation, which was used to buy outdoor furniture for a picnic site at the top of the trail. Springbrook was also awarded a planning grant from the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation. This grant will help us to design improvements that will make the trail more accessible and add features such as exercise stations, sensory elements, and nature interpretation. Current access to the trailhead requires driving into campus, so for now the trail system is only open to Springbrook community members. However, with this funding, Springbrook would like to construct more comprehensive access to the trail, including a new road and parking lot, which will provide an alternate route and trail entry available for public use. We are looking forward to these renovations so that the Springbrook Nature Trail can be accessible and enjoyed by everyone in the community!
