Oneonta, NY: Springbrook, a leader in the support for people with developmental disabilities, is proud to announce that Kids Unlimited—the integrated preschool located at the organization’s Community Campus— has been approved to operate as an Oneonta City School District Universal Prekindergarten site. The UPK—which will follow the Oneonta City School District calendar— will open for the 2018 school year and is taking enrollment applications now.
This expansion of services represents an exciting opportunity for Preschool aged children to learn not only foundational academic skills, but also the importance of acceptance and compassion. In order to be considered for one of the spots in the new program, children must reside in the Oneonta City School District and must turn four by December 1 of the 2018 school year.
Since 1993, Kids Unlimited Preschool has provided high-quality daycare to over seven hundred children in this community. Parents of children of all abilities and development levels have trusted Kids Unlimited with the care, growth, and education of their children. As the only integrated daycare in the area, Kids Unlimited offers a unique experience for the students who are enrolled. This integration has proven to be a determinate factor when parents are deciding where to enroll their child for daycare. Tegan Fairbairn, a current Kids Unlimited parent, had this to say:
“I decided to enroll her because I had heard lots of great things and also because it is an integrated program. This learning environment integrates both typical children and those in different levels of development and incorporates therapies into their individualized schedules. The Teachers and therapists are great, the staff are friendly, and the facility is clean and safe. My daughter has learned so much and I am confident she is prepared for Kindergarten!”
At Kids Unlimited, children of all abilities learn, play, and grow in the same environment. While the certified, experienced staff teach fundamental skills necessary to succeed in elementary school and beyond, the lessons learned through peer interaction simply cannot be taught from a book. It is the expansion of successful, community-minded programs like Kids Unlimited Preschool that continues to make Springbrook New York’s leading service and support provider for people with developmental disabilities.
Aside from being the only integrated Preschool in the area, Kids Unlimited sets itself apart from other providers with the areas most affordable rates. Springbrook operates Kids Unlimited with one goal in mind, and that is to provide the absolute highest quality care at a reasonable cost. In the upcoming Universal Prekindergarten, children in the Oneonta City School District will be able to attend at no cost from 9:00 am – 11:30 am, and parents who choose to enroll their child in a full day at Kids Unlimited will be able to do so at a discounted rate.
When asked about the future program expansion, Hannah Pleban, Coordinator of Kids Unlimited Preschool, said:
“Our teaching team has been providing quality early childhood services for over 20 years, and we are so excited to expand our partnership with the Oneonta City School District through Universal Prekindergarten. We already work closely with OCSD in providing special education and evaluation services, so adding the Universal Prekindergarten program is something we have been considering for quite a while. We are excited to be able to offer Universal Prekindergarten in our unique, integrated setting.”
