Springbrook, a leader in the support of people with developmental disabilities, will host an Otsego-Delaware Job Service Employer Committee seminar titled, Autism in the Workplace, given by Executive Director of the Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region, Janine Kruiswijk. The seminar will take place on Friday, October 11th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Springbrook’s Oneonta Community Campus at 5588 State Highway 7, Oneonta, NY, 13820.
In this three hour seminar, Ms. Kruiswijk will discuss the opportunities and challenges of employing people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. She will explain how Autism may present in the workplace and discuss onboarding, retention best practices, and a review of possible accommodations. Ms. Kruiswijk will also address the stigma and false assumptions presently associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Janine Kruiswijk has been the Executive Director of the Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region since 2009. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Family Resource Network of Oneonta, New York. She has many years of experience supporting children, youth, and adults with exceptional needs, providing community leadership, and promoting policy changes on behalf of families and individuals. Kruiswijk has her BS in Sociology from The College of New Rochelle and is the parent of four children, one of them with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
