This Situation Saturday The New York State Autism Spectrum Disorders Advisory Board wants to see your creative skills! The ASD Board is seeking suggestions for a symbol for a flag to honor neurodiverse New Yorkers as part of their objective to promote awareness of and celebrate the achievements of neurodiverse New Yorkers.
If you or someone you may know has a flag design idea, please send the following information to asdadvisoryboard@opwdd.ny.gov by September 23, 2022:
- A PDF, photo, or scanned copy of the design (in the shape of a flag)
- Your name, phone number, and email address or other preferred method of contact
- A short caption describing your design and what it means to you. This description will be included with the design in the public input period.
During the next public meeting, the Board will discuss and review the submissions and explain the process for letting people choose their favorite. Anyone may submit a design for review by the Board. Instructions on how the public can select their favorite design will be presented with the designs on the Board’s website. People who have first-hand knowledge of neurodiversity are urged to submit designs and vote for the one they believe most accurately reflects them. The next public meeting of the NYS Autism Spectrum Disorders Advisory Board will be held on Tuesday, October 4.
