The 2022 Springbrook art show, What’s In A Dream, is coming up in April at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, and we need YOUR work!

We have a fun group project for this year, and we would like everyone to participate (staff, students, and residents alike) if they want to contribute to the art show. In order to make this easier for everyone, we are preparing art kits that will be delivered to various locations. In the kit will be instructions and all the materials you need to complete your part of the group project.

Here is a bit more information to get you started:

THEME: What’s in a Dream?

Dreams take many different forms: one might have vivid dreams of flying while they are sleeping, or daydream of a beach on a cold February afternoon. More than this, though, are the waking dreams we have for the future and aspirations that we share with one another every day.

We’re asking artists to visualize their dreams or aspirations. Show us: how do you define a dream? What shape does your dream take? What is it you hope for in the future? You can do this through the group project, or make an artwork of your own.

Group Project Details

Community Homes will each receive five (5) 4″x4″ panels, along with some paints, brushes, markers, and glitter paint. You are welcome to use other materials that you already have to decorate your panel too.

The School at Springbrook and the Oneonta Day Hab will also receive panels and art supplies for the group project. Students will have the opportunity to make a panel for the group project during art class. Day Hab participants can work on panels during their day program.

We will facilitate collecting all the panels, and at the show, they will be hung together as one big mosaic piece, meant to illustrate the power of collective dreams.

We also encourage everyone to submit their own artwork outside of the group project, we only just ask that you keep the subject matter within the idea of the show’s theme. This artwork can be any medium you want! Photography, sculpture, paintings, drawings, collage – whatever inspires you.

Please make sure to label all artwork with the artist’s name, location/affiliation to Springbrook, and title of the artwork.

Committee members will be collecting artwork over the week of March 14th-18th. We anticipate hanging and arranging artwork at the gallery the following week. The art show will open on April 1st and we’ll keep you posted about an opening reception.

We can’t wait to see everyone’s artwork! If you have questions or concerns please email the marketing department at: marketing@springbrookny.org
