What do You Dream? Gala a Huge Success

On March 28th, fireworks filled the sky over Otsego Lake, punctuating an evening that turned out to be Springrook’s most successful gala celebration yet! The ballroom of the Otesaga was filled to capacity with friends and supporters of Springbrook, who were moved by a touching speech given by this year’s honoree and renowned author, Connor Gifford. After being introduced by Springbrook friend and board member Tom Maggs, Connor engaged the crowd then presented a piece of his original artwork to Executive Director Patricia Kennedy.

Equally moving was a video presentation that focused attention on Springbrook’s preschool program, which will benefit from the proceeds of the event. Attendees received dream catchers made by our participants of all ages, and were provided with golden dollar coins to throw into a fountain while making a wish for Springbrook. The crowd later danced to the music of the band New York Minute, with Connor Gifford stealing the show!

The weekend’s events included a special presentation of Connor’s book, America According to Connor Gifford, to New York State Historical Association President Stephen Elliott at the NYSHA Library, a reading and book signing at The Green Toad Bookstore and an open house at the School at Springbrook. The Gifford family also enjoyed guided tours of the Fenimore Museum, the Farmers’ Museum and the National Baseball Hall of Fame during their stay in Cooperstown.

This year’s gala saw the highest attendance, highest amount of sponsorship and most successful silent auction…not to mention the most fun! Thank you to all of our sponsors and silent auction donors, our Gala Committee members and everyone who contributed to this year’s gala success in their own special way…you helped make our dreams come true!
