Springbrook to Hold Information Session Regarding Self-Directed Supports and Services for People with Special Needs

Oneonta, New York: Springbrook, a leading provider of innovative supports for people with special needs, will host a Self-Directed Services (SDS) information session next month. The session will run from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on July 1, in the Events Room at Springbrook’s Community Campus located at 5588 State Highway 7 in Oneonta, New York.

The information provided will be done so in accordance with New York State Office for People with Disabilities (OPWDD) regulations. OPWDD Self-Direction Coordinators, Kathy Creagh and Cynthia Spann, will be presenting the information for anyone interested in learning more about self-directed care and services.

Creagh and Spann will guide attendees through the Self-Directed Services process. This training is meant to assist individuals and their families so that they may become as independent as possible by understanding self-determination. The details of an SDS plan will be covered, as well as the individual’s and/or the circle of support’s responsibilities. The session is designed to help individuals who are not currently receiving OPWDD services as well as those who already receive services, so that they can learn more about self-determination and alternative supports.

This training session is free and open to the public. People who work in the special needs support field, individuals who wish to become self-determined or are currently pursuing SDS, and those who already receive services are highly encouraged to join in. If you are interested in attending this event, please contact Springbrook at (607) 353-7272, ext. 2600.
