There will be fun for the whole family this Saturday as thousands of little rubber ducks race down the Susquehanna River. The 6th Annual Rubber Duck Derby will be held at Fortin Park in Oneonta on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Duck Derby is Springbrook’s HELP (Helping Enrich the Lives of our Participants) Committee’s largest fundraiser.
At 12:00pm, Patricia Kennedy, Springbrook CEO, Ted Martin of Ted Martin Builders and other guests will dump buckets of rubber ducks off the County Route 47 bridge. Springbrook staff will wade in the river at the finish line in Fortin Park to catch the ducks.
Those who adopt a duck have a chance to win great prizes, including a top prize of $1,000. Ducks may be adopted for $5 for one duck or $25 for a Six-Quack. Adoptions can be made by visiting Springbrook’s main campus at 2705 State Highway 28 in Oneonta, visiting Springbrook’s website at http://www.springbrookny.org/donate.html or calling Springbrook at 607-286-7171 Ext. 271. Ducks will also be available in Fortin Park on the day of the race until 11:45am.
Other activities during the day will include cake walks, carnival games and face painting, a D.J., food, a basket raffle and performances by FLAME and Springbrook’s own Singing Sign-Sations. Duck Derby t-shirts, made possible by Ted Martin Builder, will also be available for purchase.
