Bike (Walk) to Work - May 16

The fourth annual Bike to Work Day for Otsego County will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 and Sprinbrook is an official check-in site! The day is organized and sponsored by the Otsego Regional Cycling Advocates (ORCA) a committee of Otsego County Conservation Association (OCCA). This year ORCA and OCCA are teaming up with Jason’s Run and sponsoring the First Alert Sticker & Safety Card Program. Karen Vagliardo, Jason’s Run Coordinator says, “This program is designed to help Emergency Responders aid injured riders. The program is a valuable tool in helping EMT's and hospital personnel assist injured riders with information such as allergies, existing medical conditions, medications, and much more.”

The First Alert Sticker & Card Program provides a decal (for outside of the helmet) and information card (for inside of the helmet) providing emergency contact information for bearer of the card. “We are happy to be coordinating with Jason’s Ride to help inform more persons about this method of communication in case of emergency”, stated Martha Clarvoe, Bike to Work Day Chair.

As in past years there will be many check-in locations throughout the county. Springbrook will have two check-in areas, one on the Main Campus located on Route 44 in front of the Administration Building and the other in front of the new Oneonta Campus on Route 7. This year the event will have banners for each check-in location to help advertise the sites. The banners have been made by Woodside Hall residents under the direction of volunteer/staff Julie Barnes. Materials were donated by Dottie Hudson and Jean Finch, ORCA members.

2012 Bike to Work Day Sponsors: Cooperstown PreSchool, Paceline Sports Cycling Team, Custom Electronics, Inc., New York Pizzeria, Integrative Structural Therapies, Carefree Gardens, and Origins Café.
