Bainbridge-Guilford High School Group Visits Springbrook

Oneonta, NY: On Wednesday, April 29, a small group of high school students from the Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District spent the day at Springbrook. The students took a tour of Springbrook and learned about career opportunities within the organization as a part of its “Life Beyond High School” program.

“Life Beyond High School” provides eleventh and twelfth graders from Bainbridge-Guilford High School with the opportunity to tour local colleges and businesses. The program was created six years ago by a group of teachers who wanted to help young adults understand their options after graduation. “Life Beyond High School” visits up to nine locations each school year, depending on the interests of the students involved and the variety of work or academic programs offered at the given location. Laureen Scott-Treacy, a History teacher at the school, accompanied the students on their trip to Springbrook and said that she and the students had a positive experience. She reports, “One of the [students] that took the Springbrook trip said that it was the best one she has been on!”

Springbrook is the leader for at-home care, residential and educational services, day services, and clinical, therapeutic, and behavioral supports to over 850 people with developmental disabilities from across New York State. As Otsego County’s third-largest employer, Springbrook is proud to be actively involved in the local community and welcomes opportunities to share with the public the great things that happen in the organization each day.
