New Employee Orientation Update

New Employee Orientation Update

Beginning in 2019, the New Employee Orientation (NEO) schedule will change.  As is currently the practice, new employees will attend pre-boarding the Friday before their orientation, starting on the following Monday.  However, they will stay at the Oneonta Campus for six consecutive days until the following Monday, completing their instructor-led and eLearning courses, followed by four days at the employee's work location. This second week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) will focus on work location specific training.

We believe this structure will allow better retention of both the training offered at the Oneonta Campus as part of NEO, as well as job-specific training at the work location.  We hope this will allow a more immersive learning experience within the location and allow supervisors to build a new hire's skills and knowledge day to day.  As mentioned above, NEO will conclude on Friday of their second week, as it does now.

The first NEO following this format will begin on January 7th, 2019 (pre-boarding on Friday, January 4th).  The supervisor lunch meet-and-greet will continue to be the first day of orientation.  Please note, if new hires are unable to complete their training in the allotted time, they may come back to the Oneonta Campus the Tuesday of their second week to finish up any outstanding requirements.
