Enriching Lives

What is HELP?

Springbrook employees established HELP (Helping Enrich Lives of People with Disabilities) in 2005 in an effort to assist individuals who had need but did not have resources to meet their need.  The HELP Committee is comprised of employees that want to raise money for individuals we serve.

Our Mission

Individuals served by Springbrook may be faced with needs that require additional  financial support.  It is the role of the HELP Committee to support and  enhance the heartfelt efforts of our employees.  HELP serves to identify needs,  coordinate employee fundraising efforts, pool resources and make grant back to individuals with disabilities.

Employees Making The Difference

The HELP Committee has raised over $40,000 through the efforts of individual employees.  The money raised has all been granted back to the individuals we serve.  Some examples of how we have helped people include:

  • sending both children and adults to a special needs summer camp
  • paying for a plane ticket so a child could get the medical care they needed
  • fund a washer and dryer that allowed participants more independence in their own home
  • paid for emergency medication
  • helped a student visit his father for Thanksgiving
  • supported guitar lessons and gym memberships
  • given much needed funds for clothing
  • and made Christmas merrier for those who would otherwise have gone without

All of the funds raised come from one event - our Annual Rubber Duck Derby.  People adopt little yellow rubber ducks and they float down a river to a finish line.

Rubber Duck Derby

Sprinbrook employees organized our first duck derby 4 year ago. This fundraiser has grown into an annual event, which is the only source of funds for the HELP Committee.  Springbrook incorporates this annual event with our Annual Family Day.

The 2009 Duck Derby was a tremendous success thanks in part to our dedicated employees, parents and families, sponsors and community.  The HELP committee raised over $16,000 which will be granted back to individuals with a disability throughout the year.

Duck Derby Entertainment

Entertainment by FLAME - a group from upstate New York, made up of people with developmental and physical disabilities, including autism, Down’s syndrome, mental retardation and blindness.   FLAME wants to change the world through music.  They are a phenomenon that inspires people and changes the way the general public view people with disabilities.  People of all ages and backgrounds connect with this talented band.  The feedback they get from parents of children with disabilities is probably the most overwhelming.  Parents are often overcome with emotion watching FLAME.  FLAME gives them hope that their child can achieve great things and, even more importantly, have a fun, fulfilling life.
